Chromatography 


 

Chromatography is a method of separating a mixture of molecules depending on their distribution between a mobile phase and a stationary phase. The chromatography process is optimally used in food & dairy ingredient and bio-chemical & pharmaceutical applications for the separation of two or multi- components,such as demineralization / deashing, separation and purification / enrichment of valuable products.


 

Industrially, Ion Exclusion Chromatography technology is used for the above applications, based on following physical principle: ion exchange resins beds, installed in pressurized columns, act as a charged solid separation medium. The components of the processed fluid have different electrical affinities to this medium and are, as a result, differently retained by the resins thanks to these different affinities. Therefore, by elution, these components can be recovered separately at the outlet of the resins bed.


 

We have a large experience of designing and manufacturing turn key chromatography plants, operated for the demineralization, separation and purification / enrichment of specialty sugars or oligosaccharides (fructose / glucose / maltose, etc..), polyols, organic acids, protein etc…

 


Ion Exchange

 

Ion exchange is a reversible chemical reaction. Ion exchange resins consist of a polymeric matrix and a functional group with a mobile ion which can be exchanged with other similar charged ion present in the solution to be treated. Although an infinite quantity of functional groups can be attached to the polymeric matrix, the most commonly used in the industry are: cationic type(Strong acid cation& Weak acid cation) and anionic type(Strong base anion & Weak base anion).


 

We design and supply ion exchange resin systems with one or many columns using the extensive product line of resins. These resins feature very uniform and fine bead sizes. The columns use proprietary distributors that allow for a cost-effective consumption of regenerant chemicals and for a good feed distribution. These are adapted to resin swelling and to easy capacity expansions.


 

Our expertise includes: Whey demineralization, Decalcification / demineralization of sugar juices, Purification of fermentation broths, Decolorization / deacidification / acidification / debittering of miscellaneous streams etc.
